Finding the source

Odor can travel farther than the accessible location that caused it.

A dead animal may be visible in a Pasadena yard, pool or patio, but an indoor call often begins with odor and no confirmed source. Air can move through an attic, wall chase, floor opening or crawl space and make one room smell stronger even when the body is elsewhere. Arman starts with the location, timing and direction of the odor, then follows accessible areas rather than promising that the strongest-smelling spot is the exact source.

Other clues include flies near a vent or window, a sudden odor after scratching stopped, staining near an accessible cavity, or a concentration of smell around an attic hatch or under-floor access. Rats, opossums, raccoons and skunks are among the animals that can be involved, but odor alone does not identify a species. The inspection is for locating the accessible source and deciding what removal access is practical.

Concealed construction creates real limits. A body inside a wall may be reachable from an existing opening or another accessible side, while a sealed cavity behind finishes may not be reached without additional work that is outside the confirmed removal scope. The $175 inspection does not guarantee that every hidden source can be reached. Arman explains what was checked, what evidence was found and what could not be accessed.

Pasadena access conditions

Older attics, raised foundations and additions can separate the smell from the source.

Many older Pasadena homes have attic spaces divided by roof changes, chimneys, additions or low eaves. A smell that enters a hallway through the attic hatch may originate beyond a narrow section that cannot be safely reached. Arman checks the accessible side and looks for evidence leading toward the source. He does not describe a finished or unsafe area as inspected when it was not physically accessible.

Raised foundations and crawl spaces are another common source-finding challenge. Openings beneath porches, utility penetrations, foundation vents and later additions can create separate under-floor compartments. Odor may rise through plumbing or floor gaps into a kitchen or bathroom even when the body is closer to the perimeter. Access size, standing room, debris and the condition of the under-house area all affect whether removal is practical.

On landscaped lots near the Arroyo Seco, Linda Vista, Madison Heights, Bungalow Heaven, Hastings Ranch or the Altadena border, the source may also be outside: beneath a deck, beside dense planting, in a yard, at a patio edge or in a pool. Outdoor pickup is still private-property work. Tell Arman whether the remains are visible and reachable or whether the call is strictly an odor search.

After an accessible body is removed, Brave Guys disinfects the local spot at no added charge. That treatment is limited to the immediate affected location; it is not a promise of whole-attic or whole-crawl-space restoration. Odor already absorbed into wood, drywall, insulation or other materials can take time to fade. Brave Guys does not replace insulation, but a partner company can be recommended if replacement is needed.

How we work

Locate the source, approve the removal, then disinfect the immediate spot.

Dead-animal service has a paid diagnostic stage because the source is often not visible. Removal begins only after Arman explains what is accessible and what the body-removal scope will cost.

01

$175 source inspection

Arman maps the odor pattern, checks relevant accessible attic, crawl-space, wall, yard, pool or patio areas, and explains any construction or safety limit. The inspection charge applies whether or not a concealed source can be reached.

02

Confirm access and price

When the body is accessible, removal is approximately $100–$300 depending on location, access and condition. That range is separate from the $175 inspection. You approve the removal amount before the work proceeds.

03

Remove the accessible body

Brave Guys picks up and removes dead animals from anywhere on the private property when the location can be safely accessed, including an attic, crawl space, wall, yard, pool, patio or under-house area.

04

Disinfect the local area

After removal, local disinfection of the spot is included free. Arman explains any remaining odor expectation, material limitation or separate entry-point issue rather than extending the scope without approval.

Before the source-finding visit

Track where the smell changes instead of opening walls or entering tight spaces yourself.

Text the Pasadena address and identify the first day you noticed the odor. Explain which room, floor or outdoor area is strongest, whether the smell changes with heat or air movement, and whether scratching or movement stopped shortly before it began. If the remains are visible in a yard, pool or patio, a safe-distance photo can help Arman understand access before the visit.

Do not crawl beneath the house, climb into an unsafe attic, cut drywall or reach into a wall cavity to search. A dead source can be surrounded by waste, sharp construction edges or live animals using the same opening. Keep pets away from visible remains and do not move the body solely to create a photo. The inspection is designed to follow accessible evidence without asking you to take those risks.

Clear ordinary access to the attic hatch, crawl-space door, side gate or pool equipment area if it can be done safely. Let Arman know about tenant coordination, alarm systems, low attic clearances, standing water, locked gates or construction zones. These details do not determine the price by themselves, but they help define which parts of the property can be inspected and whether removal is feasible.

Confirmed pricing

The paid inspection and body removal are two separate charges.

Dead-animal source finding costs $175. The visit focuses on locating the problem through relevant accessible areas and explaining access limits. It is one of the site's two paid inspection categories; the other is a snake inspection at $175. The fee is not converted into a promise that a body concealed behind every type of construction can be reached.

When removal is possible, the body-removal price is approximately $100–$300 based on access, location and condition. That range does not include the $175 inspection. A body lying in an open yard or pool may present a different removal scope from one beneath a low foundation or inside an accessible wall opening, so Arman confirms the amount before proceeding.

Local disinfection of the immediate spot is included free after removal. Larger cleanup, entry-point repairs or construction access are not silently bundled into that service. Closing an opening is separate and can happen only after the space is clear of live animals. Any travel charge for a farther property is confirmed before dispatch.

Licensed in California

A licensed owner evaluates the source and explains the boundary of the work.

Brave Guys Inc. is registered with the California Structural Pest Control Board under PR 10209, Branch 2. Owner and field technician Arman Nazarian holds SPCB Operator license OPR 15111. The only business address is 633 N Central Ave, Glendale, CA 91203; this Pasadena page describes a service area, not an office in the city.

Arman also holds a California Department of Fish and Wildlife trapping license, Trapper ID TP-11016. That credential matters if the inspection reveals a related live-wildlife problem, but the dead-animal visit itself remains limited to the approved accessible source, removal and local disinfection described here.

Who handles the call?

A carcass on a public street and one inside private construction are not the same service call.

City or county animal control usually handles dead or injured animals on public streets. A dead animal in a private attic, crawl space, wall, yard, pool, patio or under-house area is normally the property owner's private service matter. Brave Guys provides that private-property source inspection, accessible removal and local disinfection.

We do not claim service for public streets and do not list agency phone numbers because the correct public response can depend on location and circumstances. For a Pasadena property, text whether the source is visible or only suspected, identify the part of the property involved, and let Arman confirm the private service scope.

Local questions

Answers before you schedule.

These answers describe the scope on this page. Arman confirms access, method and price for the actual property before work begins.

How much is dead animal removal in Pasadena?

The source-finding inspection is $175. If the body is accessible, removal is approximately $100–$300 depending on access, location and condition; that range is in addition to the inspection. Local disinfection of the immediate spot is included free after removal.

I smell something but cannot find it. Can you locate the source?

Arman checks the relevant accessible areas connected to the odor, including attic, crawl-space, wall, yard and exterior locations. Air movement can shift odor, and concealed construction may prevent access, so the inspection cannot guarantee that every hidden source will be reached.

Can you remove a dead rat, opossum, raccoon or skunk?

Yes, when the body is on the private property and accessible. The species may not be clear from odor alone. The same $175 source inspection and approximately $100–$300 accessible body-removal range apply, with local disinfection of the spot included free afterward.

Do you remove dead animals from walls and attics?

Yes, from accessible attic and wall locations. Existing access, construction and safety determine what can be reached. Brave Guys does not promise destructive access to every sealed cavity, and any work beyond the approved removal scope must be explained separately.

Is the disinfection really included?

Yes. After an accessible body is removed, local disinfection of that immediate spot is included free. It is not a whole-attic or whole-crawl-space cleanup and does not include insulation replacement.

Will the odor disappear as soon as the animal is removed?

Not always. Removing the source and disinfecting the spot address the immediate problem, but odor absorbed into wood, drywall, insulation or other material may take time to fade. No instant result is promised.

Can you seal the opening after removal?

Entry-point closure is a separate exclusion service. It is considered only after the space is clear of live animals and the opening is identified and accessible. Ask which repairs qualify for the one-year exclusion-repair warranty.

Which Pasadena neighborhoods do you serve?

We serve Pasadena properties, including areas near the Arroyo Seco, Linda Vista, Madison Heights, Bungalow Heaven, Hastings Ranch and the Altadena border. Send the exact address to confirm coverage and any travel charge before dispatch.

What hours can I call or text?

Contact hours are daily from 8 AM to midnight, Los Angeles time. Call or text (818) 627-8118 with your name, service address and whether the source is visible or only suspected. Field timing is confirmed separately.

Are dead-animal services covered by the exclusion warranty?

Body removal and local disinfection are not automatically exclusion repairs. The one-year exclusion-repair warranty applies only to specific qualifying entry points that Brave Guys repairs under a separately approved scope.
